In straight down vertical testing: three times stronger than #2 2x6's. Four times stronger than 2x4's.

Because of how the R.20 Tstud™ is constructed, it is also a mini header when used as a top plate. Only one R.20 Tstud™ is required when used as a top plate compared to two 2x6’s or 2x4’s in traditional framing which has been done for centuries. 

The R.20 Tstud™ is stronger than LSL (laminated strand lumber) or LVL (laminated veneer lumber) stud sized lumber in most applications up to 16’-0” in height depending on wind load conditions. A built-in foam core gives the R.20 Tstud™ three times the insulation of a conventional wood stud.

The R.20 Tstud™ is the same depth as a 2x6 but offers an impressive initial R-Value of 20 and has a 99.23% complete thermal break through the stud.  Meaning that there isn't a need for continuous rigid insulation to meet and exceed the 2015 energy code in all of the climate zones in North America.

By using the thermally broken R.20 Tstud™: Structural Insulated Framing System, a reduction of 4-7 points on the HERS numbering system is garnered.

By improving the thermal break in the exterior wall with an initial R Value of 20,
