STRUCTURAL

In straight down vertical testing: three times stronger than #2 2x6's. Four times stronger than 2x4's. the barenaked tstud Certified to hold 8600# of axial compressive loading.

The BareNaked Tstud™ is stronger than LSL (laminated strand lumber) or LVL (laminated veneer lumber) stud sized lumber in most applications up to 16’-0” in height depending on wind load conditions. Wind Load Tables coming soon. The BareNaked Tstud™ is able to be used in walls up to 16’ in height.

THERMAL

The barenaked tstud™ provides a 95.9% complete thermal break through the wall assembly – hot or cold.

We have had many people inquire about the BareNaked Tstud™ because they want to use their own kind/type of insulation. In order to pass all of the vigorous bending tests without the foam, we needed to turn the one member perpendicular to stiffen up the BareNaked Tstud in order to pass the wind load and the seismic tests for all of North America.

Build Your Own R-Value

Choose your insulation:
Spray foam, cellulose, mineral wool, horse hair, fiberglass, etc.

WIND

Hurricane and seismic testing has passed at 16” and 24” on center spacing.

SOUND

The sound will need to be tested and will be determined by the type of insulation but should be about the same as the R.20 Tstud.

FIRE

Regarding fire, because the BareNaked Tstud can not be used as a top or bottom plate due to its configuration, a typical top plate will need to be used of 2x6 material. So the top and bottom plates would be typical construction as to fire requirements.

MOLD, ROT, & TERMITE RESISTANT

The Tstud™ will soon offer a coating available to protect from the harmful effects of mold, rot (fungal decay) and wood ingesting insects including formosan termites. The Tstud™ is made to be used on concrete and in infestation areas of North America.
